Permit to Work

Before starting any non-routine or hazardous work on site, a Permit to Work must be raised, authorised and accepted. Select the permit type below to begin.
Working on site? A permit must be in place and authorised before work commences. Contact the site HS&E officer if you are unsure which permit applies.
Select Permit Type
Choose the permit that matches the work you are about to carry out. If multiple activities apply, raise each permit separately. For contractor work, always raise an MM16 first.
Hot Work Permit
A permit must be issued for all hot work outside of designated hot work areas. Hot work includes but is not limited to: Oxy-fuel cutting welding or burning, brazing, soldering, MIG/TIG welding, grinding, or any process that produces sparks, heat or uses open flames
Lock Off / Tag Off (LOTO)
A permit must be issued for all forms of energy isolations to be made and includes but is not limited to: Air supplies, Electrical supplies, Mechanical, Hydraulics, Fire Water, Mains Water, Spot Weld coolant
Pit Entry - Confined Space Permit
A permit must be issued for all forms of work being completed in Confined Spaces, these may include but is not limited to: Pit Working, Drains, Manholes
Working on Overhead Cranes
A permit must be issued for working on all Overhead cranes and crane gantry
Working at Heights
A permit must be issued for all working at height activities, including but is not limited to: Ladders, Steps, Cherry Pickers, Platforms, FLT Platforms, Scaffolding, Excavations, Roofs, Floor levels with no barriers
Contractors General Permit to Work
Note: Permits should only be issued by a competent person who understands the job hazards and the necessary control measures
Raise the Permit
Complete Part A with work details, validity period and the people involved. Select all applicable safety checks in Part B.
Authorise & Accept
A Sertec authoriser signs to approve the work. The worker or contractor then countersigns to accept the permit conditions.
Work & Hand Back
Work proceeds within the validity window. On completion the permit is handed back, the area made safe and the record closed.
